Arturo Vidal is still valued and will be staying at Juventus despite his nightclub controversy and reported interest from Manchester United, according to club hero Alessio Tacchinardi.

The Chile international was heavily linked with the Red Devils all summer long, but the Serie A champions held firm to keep their man, who has since revealed that he was never close to switching to Old Trafford.

But rumours of a fresh January offer have been doing the rounds, with Vidal’s future at the club having been plunged into doubt after some unsavoury off-field behaviour.

The 27-year-old reported late for training last week and was heavily fined amid allegations of a nightclub bust-up in the early hours of the morning.

Reports have since claimed that Juve are now open to a £35m deal, and that United are as keen as ever to get the box-to-box ace in.

But former Old Lady midfielder Tacchinardi is sure that the situation will be righted, and that Vidal will stay put:

“I did not expect and, being so close to Juve, I felt a little let down,” he is quoted by The Express.

“But I also know that in football these things can happen. It is important to understand the error and to not commit any more.

“Vidal is one the strongest players in the world, one that I would always have in my team, and he must know that he always has all eyes on him.

“If there are any issues outside of the football, or if he wants to go to another club, it should be clear by now and for sure the best solution will be found for everyone.

“But if he has in his head and heart only Juve, the attitude changes and he can go back to as before.

“Again, this is a champion, a stratospheric player who by himself can decide games. Defending, attacking and scoring goals. What more can a Coach ask for? Nothing.

“I am convinced that the situation will be resolved soon, enough talking.”
